How were you approached for the role of Hubert?

The fact that it was a cover of “La Haine” made my choice easier. It would have been different if the musical was about a little-known project.

I had to go to a casting. The casting director approached me for the project and convinced me to go for it. She was like, “This is a great opportunity for you! I can see you in the role.” That’s how I ended up going.

This was your first time performing on stage as an actor. How did you approach the event?

I wasn’t an actor or a dancer, so let’s just say I became one. My rapping skills got me the role. I still went out of my comfort zone and didn’t rest on my laurels. As soon as the castings were done, I called on an actor from my city to coach me and make me appear credible in Mathieu’s eyes. I worked with the other actors as well. We saw each other a lot outside to work on our lines.

Before joining the troupe, what was your relationship with Mathieu Kassovitz’s film and the character of Hubert?
La Haine is part of a Proust madeleine. It’s the culture! When uae phone number library you come from a city, this film is part of the fundamentals of the street. I am very close to him and I was a little behind the scenes. It took him a while to deliver the song, because he takes the time to do things well and he does them above all with his heart.
